What is a Home Group?

A Home Group is an AA group that people consider their favorite group or the group they feel most at home. You decide which group you want to make your Home Group.

Every AA group has its own feel or essence. Many AA members advise newer members to visit different groups and find out which one best suits them. In most cases all that is requied to become a Home Group member is to list that group in the sign in sheet passed around during a meeting.

Over time it is common for people to develop a special sense of belonging and acceptance with the other Home Group members and the group as a whole.

Often Home Group members meet once a month for a business meeting where the policys and actions of a group are decided. All Home Group members are encoured to attend the business meetings. Remember there is no one individual or two individuals that run a Home Group, rather it is all the members that make the decisions for the group. This also gives you a greater feeling of belonging as an important member of that group.
