Committee Trusted Servants In District 7

An AA Member that put themselves up for service work are truly giving back what they have received.

District's Committees endeavor to reach out the arm of AA to those who do not have the advantages that most AA members enjoy. There are many Alcoholics in our area that:

  • Can't attend a normal meeting
  • Don't know what AA is about
  • Want to know how to help someone they think is suffering
  • Need to know where to go after treatment
  • Want literature to answer some questions
  • Have the special needs of the elderly

  • There many other needs that AA Members, Alcoholics still suffering and the general public have that the caring members of the District Committees reach out and provide. AA committee service work does not require any special skills, all the is required is a desire to help others. The Committees in the district can never have too many volunteers to be Committee Members. If you have a desire to help others please consider putting yourself up for service. This work is vital in achieving our Primary Purpose.

    PI Committee (Public Information)

This is a twelfth step committee using the PI workbook from GSO. The purpose is to serve as a resource for district PI committees in carrying the AA message to still suffering alcoholics by informing the general public, media, schools, industry, etc. about what the program has to offer. This is done through public service announcements, visits to schools, and other organizations. There is travel to districts to put on workshops and give presentations on doing PI work.

In all public relations, AA's sole objective is to help the still suffering alcoholic. Always mindful of the importance of personal anonymity we believe this can be done by making known to him and to those who may be interested in his problems, our own experience as individuals and as a Fellowship in learning to live without alcohol. We believe that our experience should be made available freely to all who express sincere interest. We believe further that all efforts in this field should always reflect our gratitude of the gift of sobriety and our awareness that many outside AA are equally concerned with the serious problems of alcoholism.

CEC Committee (Cooperation With The Elderly Community)

Oversees and coordinates all activities with regard to carrying our message of recovery to the older alcoholic.

The issue of AA and the older alcoholic--both those in the Fellowship and those still drinking--has been discussed for decades. Nowadays, though, more attention is being paid to the subject. Discussions revolve around two main points: how AA can be a resource for older alcoholics, and how older AA members may have particular issues relating to their sobriety.

    Archieves Committee

The archives committee is responsible for establishing policies, budgets, and procedures. It undertakes and maintains final responsibility and authority for the use of the archives, and exercises its group conscience in regard to matters of general policy. In all of its actions, the archives committee needs to be mindful of and guided by A.A.'s primary purpose. Thus, if non-A.A. friends are asked to serve on the committee, which is possible because of interest and special knowledge and expertise, they ought to be people who are thoroughly familiar with our primary purpose, as well as all of our A.A. Traditions.

One of the most important functions of the archives committee is to establish creative parameters for the selection of material to be collected. These parameters will guide the archivist in gathering material of historical significance and will reduce the time and space of preserving random bits and pieces of dubious value.

The committee is to meet on a regular basis to aid the archivist and to become familiar with the additions to the collection.

The archives committee selects a member to serve as a non-rotating archivist, so that there will be a focal person for the collection. The committee maintains final responsibility and authority for the uses of the archives, as well as all other matters of policy, through its group conscience.

    Web Committee

The Web Committee's mission is to honor and uphold Alcoholics Anonymous Primary Purpose and follow the Traditions and Sprit of Alcoholics Anonymous.

We will strive to provide a welcoming environment while providing regional information and bringing a sense of unity and involvement to all Home Groups and AA members in District 7 and Western Washington Area 72.

To provide this sense of unity and involvement the Web Committee will strive to create and maintain a website that encourages all AA members to contribute their thoughts and feelings to other AA members. And to provide an enjoyable and informative arena of information that embodies the spirit of AA.

The Web Committee will always have an open door attitude to any thoughts or suggestions from AA members while adhering to the Traditions and group conscious of District 7.
